I just wanted to send a special Mahalo out to HCCU, Hawaii Central Credit Union. They are sponsors of our Right Love Tour and helped to make all of this possible. I had the pleasure of working with them to make a radio commercial for Hawaii, and upon opening a savings account with them that day I learned so much about credit unions and how they are different from banks. HCCU is pretty much a non-profit. When you become and HCCU member, you're basically owning a portion of the company. They hook you up with everything from Auto Loans, personal loans, and checking and savings accounts. Their one branch is located on King Street in downtown Honolulu, but they have ATM and debit cards you can access at multiple atms throughout the islands with no fee. Since its a small place, you really get to know your bankers and work one on one with them to help you to achieve your financial goals. I personally have never had a savings account before, but they have like virtually no fees, and they can help you during a time you may be struggling.
I had always been scared of credit unions because I thought I wasn't eligible. But the requirements for HCCU are if you work in Hawaii, and your company has less that 3,000 employees, or you're RELATED to someone who is under that requirement, you're IN! Its pretty cool... cause they're out to help the typical Hawaiian resident.
I highly suggest you make 2010 your year of financial freedom, and talk to the friendly peeps at Hawaii Central Credit Union.
