So I've been busy. Ohyessir, every single day doing something productive and beneficial for my career in the long run. Its crunch time. Work time. There was creative time, exploration time, fun time, but now is WORK time. Every day i sign into iTunes, see what number I'm at, and try to figure out a way to make it go up. My whole team has been working diligently... Warren up and on the phone with New York from Seattle at the butt crack of dawn, hustling and talking and testifying that I'm the next big thing... Bran on Twitter and Facebook, Curtis all over the dang island, @bkgirlfriday and Shaggy of Q103 and everybody! Just hustling and bustling... its really humbling and flattering and makes me want to embody and live up to the faith all these people are putting in me. Blows my mind.
So first of all, Tuesday my Best Friend Mandy got MARRIED.. yup. Very mellow intimate wedding, but so beautiful. Had dinner and got to see close Maui friends who came over. Played a little bit while her dad walked her over to the beach area. Such a beautiful bride... going to be having a baby in August, so I couldn't be happier to be Aunty Anuhea for the first baby in my immediate BFF's life!
So I had some appearances this past week...
Was on KITV4 Morning News on Thursday
Then we hit up a couple of radio stations like KCCN FM100 and interviewed with Lena Girl, as well as Billy V for a Hawaiian Airlines in-flight radio feature! Mad love from stations I never was a part of. I like doing radio interviews and stuff! Keeps me on my toes.
Opened for one of my idols Amos Lee on Friday and Saturday to sold out audiences... (Great job BAMP boys!!) at Next Door in Chinatown Honolulu... Got to actually hang out with him later, and Amos Lee is the MANNN!!! Can't wait to do a duet with him that will give Colbie and Mraz a run for their money! LOL just kidding...
Sunday I was greeted bright and early by a Japanese film crew for the tv show Surf Lani where they feature a different Hawaii person who does somm' cool and also surfs in every episode. So they filmed me "MTV Cribs" style as I showed them my ghetto Hawaii Kai house... (Nah, its not that bad roommates! We happened to have cleaned up nicely the night before!) and then they insisted I do my normal routine. I made eggs with salsa n cheese, my Kohana Coffee and talked about my sponsors beans and such, loaded the Stand Up Paddle board in my short bed and they tied their Japanese Boy Scout knot around it, and the camera man rode shot gun as we drove to North Shore! Was PACKED out there, canoe rigattas and stuff, so we had to mission it to Chun's and SUP out there.. was pretty choppy and I was having a hard time with the no-wax board, but I did better than Johnny Helm (my on-screen boyfriend for the day! LOL) and so it made me look good since he was falling so much. I'm so mean. Love u johnny.
Went to Maui and performed for my dad's school Iao Intermediate for their reward day. Super interesting vibes playing for that age group! Makes me realize I'm getting OLD!!! They didn't know ANY Bob Marley, Sublime, TLC... I was shocked at first, but then I was like, wait, of COURSE they wouldn't... what am I thinking! I'm 23! They're 11!!! Born in 1998... that's hilarious to me. Love those kids though... can't wait to do more with that age group! HOpefully can give back to Iao School more once my non-profit gets up and going with the Pono Ukuleles and such. Also got a brand new guitar from John guys down at Ko'olau... A sick full bodied Koa one! Acoustic electric, thanks to all the boys who helped put that together for me.
Goofies....
All the while during this busy week, I've been keeping up with my eating right and exercises with Major Dotts and his wife, as well as with Pilates extraordinaire Halley Bechet. Ok, ok, I finally blatantly ate carbs last night while celebrating my little sisters graduation over dinner at Joyful Garden Chinese Restaurant with her and Quentin. Man, cake noodles never tasted so good as after not eating carbs or sugar for 3 weeks!!!! AHHH!! Seeing results though.. Just trying to be healthy, look like a give a fuh about my appearance, and be ready to handle the road!!! Yeee hawww!! Kickboxing is my new FAVE!!!
The Maui boys Vince and Wolf are here on Oahu, (arrived today) for our week of hard core rehearsing. Rented a warehouse, have a gig on Thursday at Higher Ground Wahiawa (8pm) to practice what we're working on, and in the midst of the pressure, my drummer Shawn's wife's water broke! She was having the baby!!! So we had to let him go deliver his healthy cutie 7lb son, and we carried on with rehearsals with the awesome Paul tonight instead. Still very productive, thanks to Paul for coming throug in the clutch, and Congrats to Tehani and Shawn for another addition! Tehani's first baby... awwwww!!!
K I wrote a loooong blog the other day and it got erased, so I really hope this doesn't get erased.... Please oh please... K, copy, paste... k... i think it worked!!!
