New Zealand with Mana Maoli Collective
I was one of about 24 Hawaiians representing the Mana Maoli Collective, a non profit organization dedicated to perpetuating the Hawaiian Culture, Language, and Music. Mana Maoli supports and alliance of 12 Hawaiian Charter Schools, which are culture based self-governing schools that are deeply underfunded. However the students of these schools are improving substantially from their public school counterparts. Mana Maoli also supports Kanehunamoku, a youth voyaging canoe program, and these annual trips with the Mana Maoli Collective where established musicians from Hawaii come together and form an "all-star" band which represents Hawaii at huge festivals in Aotearoa (New Zealand) such as Pasifika, and WOMAD (World of Music and Dance) Festivals.
They stay in Marae or with families throughout the journeys, performed public shows with huge New Zealand artists like Katchafire and 1814, and also small shows for children of schools similar to the charter schools of Hawaii.
This was one of the best experiences of my life. Humbling, cultural, inspirational, educational, and also helped me make a presence with my music in a new market.
Mean Maoli Mean!!!
I also got to film a lot of my music video for "Come Over Love" in New Zealand with the Mana Maoli Collective, which included musicians like John Cruz, Natural Vibrations, Kapena DeLima, Kekoa Kane. We also went with 4 beautiful hula dancers under the lead of kumu hula Mehana Hind, cultural advisors and educators and of course the head of the non profit and the organizer, Keola Nakanishi.
Sweet as, bro! Can't wait to go back!

Pro Bowl 2011

I also attended the official NFL ProBowl press conferences and events.
What an amazing experience!!! Go Vikings!
