New Song "Maui Rain" – My Tribute to Lahaina 🌷🌧️

Aloha everyone, here is my new song “Maui Rain”. 🌷🌧️🌈

I wrote this song as a deeply personal tribute to the town of Lāhainā- the beautiful historic town where I spent years of my life living, working, surfing, galavanting and playing music in. I wrote this song during the period of mourning and healing following the devastating fires one year ago. ❤️‍🩹 It navigates the depths of grief while also finding comfort in the memories we all hold dear of the special place. I also am celebrating the enduring spirit of the people of Lāhainā, and all that we lost that day/night.

Lahaina was the place I embarked on my musical journey like 15+ years ago. I worked at a cafe on Front Street (Livewire) where I played my first ever gig, singing and jamming with my acoustic guitar at the age of 19, and made a million other memories before and after that era.

I recorded Maui Rain at RSP Studios in Hilo produced with the talented award winning @ryanhiraokamusic.

I wrote the song at my home here in Kona, watching the videos on social media, crying my way through the whole process.

I found myself singing the lyrics to another song of mine off my ‘For Love’ album that my dear friend Jacob Hemphill of @sojagram wrote years ago. The last few lines of “It’s Not the Same”, although written for a different kind of loss, made beautiful sense in this song. So you’ll hear that as my outro verse to Maui Rain.

It comes and it goes, are you listening?

We can change our minds but our hearts remain

It’s beautiful… but not today”

“Maui Rain” stands as a testament to my own personal experiences of the losses in my life lately, but staying strong with the memories that will never go away.

With this song, I offer a beautiful reminder of the healing power of music and the resilience of the human spirit, especially the people of Lahaina.Hope that Maui Rain can bring you comfort during this one year mark of that devastating day, and forever comfort you in times of grief. You gotta know, you’re not alone. ❤️
